Medical Laboratory Technician – Full-Time

Position Overview:
USGP is currently seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team full-time at Womack Army Medical Center. This is a rewarding opportunity to support the health and readiness of active duty service members and their families in a collaborative military healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of a medical laboratory technician program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or another program acceptable to the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Certification: Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the ASCP, AMT.
• Experience: At least 1 year of recent experience as a Clinical or Medical Laboratory Technician.
• BLS Certification: Current certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Perform clinical laboratory tests, including waived and moderate complexity procedures, across multiple sections such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Prepare, process, and assess specimens for analysis while maintaining the appropriate physiological properties.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab instruments and equipment, troubleshooting as needed.
• Ensure quality control standards and documentation are consistently met.
• Collect, label, and process blood products; handle specimen transport and biological waste disposal.
• Independently conduct donor screening, phlebotomy, apheresis platelet donations, and other related blood donor operations.
• Train and support new staff, military lab technician students, and pathology residents in donor center procedures.
